A very special evening happened on October
17th, 2008 -- a special dual change of command ceremony took place at
Northshore Squadron.
In an uncommonly-occurring dual
Change-Of-Command ceremony, both the squadron commander and the cadet
commander of Northshore Composite Squadron were transitioned in a
special evening ceremony on October 17, 2008 at the Army Reserve Center
in Bothell, WA. Honored at the special ceremony, outgoing squadron
commander Capt. Barb Jensen was also promoted to Major, Civil Air
Patrol.
“This has to be one of the most special
evenings of my life” said Major Barb Jensen.
A change of squadron command typically
occurs about every 3 years, while a cadet commander is usually changed
annually. On this special evening both changes occurred together.
Outgoing squadron commander Capt. Barb Jensen relinquished command to
incoming commander Capt. Linda Garross, a longtime member of CAP.
Outgoing cadet commander 1st Lt Michael Keane relinquished
cadet command to 2nd Lt Jared Snyder, former Deputy Cadet
Commander.
Maj. Jensen and Capt. Garross have been
active in command roles and in Emergency Services in Washington Wing, as
well as training multiple Washington Wing Champion Color Guard teams.
Cadet’s Keane and Snyder have been active in command and support roles
in squadron and wing activities such as fly-ins and training
encampments, and c/2nd Lt Snyder taught at the 2008 National
Advanced Technologies Academy in Colorado.
Representing Washington Wing command was
Wing Vice Commander Col. Ted Tax and Northwest Area Commander Major Mark
Norton.
